Obstructions are things on the ground or in the air that are susceptible to damage by tree felling. Items in your neighbor’s yard which could interfere with the felling of your trees are also considered obstructions.

Obstructions limit how we can fell your trees. Our base prices are for tree felling a whole tree (no climbing involved). In the case of large and extra large trees, we often have to perform more complex operations.

When Up A Tree technicians encounter unanticipated obstructions they may deal with them by climbing the tree and rigging, cutting, and lowering large pieces of the tree safely to the ground. Climbing significantly raises the risk involved in our work, and therefore may significantly raise the final price of your tree work.

It is extremely important to clearly show all potential obstructions in any pictures, descriptions or video consultations.

If the project has relatively few obstacles, but involves highly skilled climbing and cutting, it can increase the final price 50% or more.

If there are lots of obstructions (including wires, trees, fences, sheds, buildings, pool, gardens, neighbors) it can add 75% or more to your final price.

Not sure how you’re gonna do it? Each situation is unique, but we will give you an estimate at fair market price.

MOVABLE – Including, but not limited to, you or your neighbor’s lawn furniture, above ground pools, children’s toys, swing sets, pet houses, fences, ornamental plantings, boats and trailers, all types of vehicles, trash cans, etc. You are responsible for moving out of harms way all ‘movable’ obstructions prior to the start of the project.

Please note: Animal waste is considered an obstruction and a hazard and must be removed prior to any work being performed.

IMMOVABLE, but OK to damage – Any item identified by Up A Tree as an obstruction which you specifically indemnify us against, i.e., if we tell you your bushes will likely be crushed and you tell us “not to worry”.

IMMOVABLE, NO-STRIKE OBJECTS – Including, but not limited to, you or your neighbor’s house, your garage, sheds, fences, pools, water features, fish ponds, trees, ornamental plantings, electric, telephone, cable or other overhead utility lines, paved areas and patios, septic systems, including leaching fields and tanks, wells, air conditioning units, etc.

IN ADDITION all conservation/environmental guidelines are strictly adhered to. Conditions of terrain such as heavy slope, excessive vegetation, large boulders, etc. may present “natural obstructions”, which may affect your final price.

Build Your Estimate

Up A Tree is built on three principles – PREPARATION, or “sharpening the axe”, SUPPORT, setting the proper rigging, and BALANCE – dramatically illustrated when a tree falls to the ground. We have grown and thrived with these principles in work, life and contribution to our community, our tree dwelling friends and a sustainable global environment.
